Tony Koester will be presenting two talks: one on multi-deck model railroad design and construction, with an emphasis on lighting the lower deck and a second talk on operations, discussing timetable/train order operations as well as discussing a new waybill system. In addition, he will be providing an update on his own layout, the Nickel Plate Railroad Third Subdivision.
Tony Koester is the editor of Model Railroad Planning and contributing editor to Model Railroader. He edited Railroad Model Craftsman from 1969 into 1981, when he joined Bell Laboratories. Tony retired from a 20-year career in telecommunications in 2001. He has written eight books for Kalmbach on various topics from realistic operation and multi-deck layout design to scenery, prototype modeling, and his former Allegheny Midland Railroad.
