Welcome to the Coffeyville Sub on the Kansas Central Division. The layout is a proto-freelanced point to point layout that depicts the Missouri Pacific Railroad in the late 1950s. The railroad runs on the branch line from Coffeyville Kansas to Nassau Junction (Nevada, Mo). It serves the towns of Coffeyville, Ks., Edna, Ks, Pittsburg, Ks. And Cherokee, Ks., and the Coffeyville refinery is interchanged with Mopac.
The layout is 5 years old is and fills about a 500 sq.ft. room. All the diesel locomotives are first generation with some steam making an appearance. Maximum speed on the branch is 25 M.P.H. Cars are set out and picked up by location using click track numbers. This line carried traffic from Kansas City, Conway Springs, Fort Smith, Little Rock and Osawatomie.
The Coffeyville Sub requires five operators and a dispatcher. 2 to work the small south yard, 1 to work the refinery, 2 road crews to run freight, locals, and passenger trains. JMRI is used to build manifests and switch lists. The trains run on a relaxed ordered schedule with train orders printed at the top of the wheel report. Signals are not installed yet at this time. We use CVP Products Easy DCC with wireless and tethered throttles. All turnouts have decoders and use push buttons for control, there are no ground throws on the layout.
Restrooms and drinks are easily accessible.
