The 248-mile Tennessee Central Railway ran west over the Cumberland Mountains from Harriman TN, through Nashville, and to Hopkinsville KY. The TC made it's living as a connection into Nashville for the Illinois Central RR (from Hopkinsville) and the Southern RY (from Harriman). In Nashville, the TC interchanged with the Louisville & Nashville RR and the NC&StL RR.

The year of 1951 is looking positive for the Tennessee Central Railway. With a 50% increase in profit for 1950, the outlook for another good financial year seems possible. Brand new Alco RS3 diesels are on site, passenger & freight revenue is up from Korean War deliveries to Fort Campbell and contracts are signed to deliver system generated coal to the new TVA power plant at Kingston. Only a few steamers are left on the road as Baldwins (DRS 4-4-1000) and Alcos (FA1 & RS3) have taken over most of the railroad duties.

My N-scale layout is a prototype-based replica of the Tennessee Central Railway circa early 1951. The 12' x 18' room layout features the Southern Junction Yard in Nashville, the "Belt Line" around Nashville, downtown industrial area, some online towns, branch line to the Dupont Plant at Old Hickory and the Eastern and Western divisions into staging.
